Privacy Policy
Scanly is an Android app published by TNPixel ("we", "us"). The short version: your documents never leave your phone through us. Scanly has no account, no server of ours, and no analytics. This policy lists exactly what is processed and by whom.
What stays on your device
- Your scans, photos, PDFs, extracted text, notes, signatures, folders and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. We do not receive them and cannot read them.
- Text recognition (OCR), edge detection, translation, language detection, smart categories and summaries run on your device using Google ML Kit and Tesseract. Your document content is not sent to us.
- Voice notes use the microphone only when you tap record, and are saved on your device. Reminders are local notifications.
- Optional protection: you can encrypt your documents (AES-256, key kept in the Android Keystore) and lock the app with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. Scanly never receives your biometric data.
- Backups are a file you create and store wherever you choose. Scanly does not upload it anywhere.
Google services used by the app
- Google ML Kit / Google Play services provide the document scanner and on-device models. Some models (for example translation language packs) are downloaded on first use. See ML Kit's data disclosure.
- Google AdMob shows ads to free users. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers, approximate location (from IP address), and usage data to serve and measure ads. In the EEA, UK and similar regions you are asked for consent through Google's consent form, and you can change it later in Settings. Ads can be removed with Premium. See Google's advertising policy.
Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are processed by Google Play. We use RevenueCat, a service provider, to manage Premium subscriptions. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, your purchase and subscription status, and basic technical information (app version, device model, OS and country), as described in RevenueCat's privacy policy. We do not receive your name, email or payment details. This is used only to provide and restore your purchases.
Permissions
- Internet: ads, purchases and model downloads.
- Microphone: voice notes, only when you record.
- Notifications: reminders you set.
- Run at startup: re-schedule your reminders after a reboot.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account and we do not run servers that store your content.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of our own.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Children
Scanly is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored documents and settings from your device. Use Settings → Recently deleted to manage deleted items inside the app.
- Change ad consent in the app's Settings, and reset or limit your Android advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions.
- Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data held about you. We hold no personal profile about you; for data held by RevenueCat or Google, contact them or write to us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app or on its Google Play page.
